Ballylaffin Bracken “Rox”

DSC_9850 - Version 2Ballylaffin Bracken is a 17.3 hand Irish Sport Horse gelding born in 2000 in County Tipperary, Ireland. He is Irish-bred by one of the world’s leading event and show jumping sires Ricardo Z and out of the Irish Sport Horse mare Ballylaffin Florence.

Ballylaffin Bracken was imported from Ireland by Kristin in 2004. Since his arrival, he has successfully competed at international competitions throughout the United States and Canada. In his very first outing in the United States, Ballylaffin Bracken won the Preliminary Division at the Seneca Fall Horse Trial and then placed 3rd in the Young Horse Preliminary Futurity at Plantation Field. He has completed two CIC2*s with top-10 placings and took 5th place at the mandatory Pan Am outing at the Richland Park Horse Trials in Michigan. As an Alternate Team Member for the 2011 Pan-American Games, Ballylaffin Bracken trained with Captain Mark Philips in Ocala, Florida in October of 2011. He was also awarded a 2011 USEF grant to compete at Galway Downs in California where he placed 8th.

In 2012, Rox had another impressive year, placing 6th at the Bromont Canada CCI3*, 15th at the Fair Hill International CCI3* and placing in the top 10 at seven Advanced Horse Trials throughout the year. As a result of this success Ballylaffin Bracken was named the 2012 PRO Tour Series Haygain Horse of the Year! In 2013, Kristin and Rox completed their first CCI4* together, finishing 25th at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event. After another successful season, they concluded 2013 in style finishing 5th in a competitive division at the Galway Downs International CCI3*. In 2014 this pair completed their second CCI4* event at Rolex Kentucky, finishing in 20th place! In 2015 Rox had an excellent spring, placing 6th in the Carolina International Advanced and 9th in the Advanced at The Fork. Kristin and Rox went on to complete their third consectuive Rolex Kentucky CCI4*, finishing in 30th place and jumping clean on cross-country! In 2016, Rox finished 3rd in the Intermediate at Pine Top. In 2017, Kristin and Rox started off with a 6th place finish at the Chattahoochee Hills CIC3*. Next, they went on to complete their third trip around Rolex Kentucky CCI4*!
