One of only two American entries accepted, this is our big chance to show the 2012 Olympic Selectors what we’ve got. It is also a huge opportunity for me to gain international exposure that will help me to grow as an even more competitive candidate for the USA.I am writing to request your contribution to help to fund the trip to England. I have been working extremely hard to prepare for Badminton and any support you can offer is greatly appreciated! Cavaldi was my first advanced horse as a Young Rider and we have been an inseparable team for ten seasons at the advanced level. Your contribution would directly contribute to our chances to be competitive on the international stage. Badminton is one of the biggest and most prestigious events in the world, attracting half a million spectators If you wish, I can offer you exposure through banner advertising on Cavaldi’s stabling in England as well as on my active website and social media. Please consider becoming part of our support network. It takes a strong team behind a horse and rider to achieve these goals and to progress to the level that is needed for our US Team to bring home medals!

Kristin Schmolze

Won 1st Place at his first horse trial!

I invite you to consider an opportunity to take part in one of the most exciting sporting endeavors on earth: three-day eventing. As a horse owner you will see firsthand the dedication, training and perseverance necessary to succeed in the triathlon of horse sports. Eventing requires exceptional ability and comprehensive training for horse and rider, and I have found a young horse that I think will excel at this ultimate test.

Ricardo Time, (“RT”) is a 16.1 hand Irish Sport Horse gelding foaled June, 2007 in County Tipperary, Ireland. He was found by Kedrah House Stud and I imported to the U.S. in July, 2011. RT is by one of the world’s leading event and show jumping sires, Ricardo Z , out of Autumn Time—an Irish Thoroughbred mare by Last Tycoon. Bred for success, he has the grace, scope, and winning attitude to take a competitive rider to the top in eventing or show jumping. Within two months of his arrival in the United States, RT won his very first combined test and his first horse trial at Bucks County Horse Park.

I would love to keep him in my barn and see him to the top. I have competed to the highest level of eventing, the CCI4* level, in the United States and abroad. As an alternate member of the 2011 Pan-American Games team I took part in training sessions and the team training camp leading up the Games, and with my horse Cavaldi I am qualified for the 2012 London Olympic Games. I am a member of the US Eventing Team’s “A” training list and take part in team training sessions with Capt. Mark Phillips; I also train on a regular basis with renowned eventing rider and coach Phillip Dutton.

Please consider joining me in this endeavor.

Sincerely, Kristin Schmolze

Readers are invited to check out Kristin’s blog for updates. Most recently, Kristin reflects on the ups and downs of 2011, with all of the “firsts” that made it such a memorable year as well as all of the things that she has to look forward to in 2012.

“Over the last few months I have had a bit of time to reflect on the past year for KSE. While we had a slow start to the year, we ended up having a whirlwind of a finish!

Having both Joey and Rox sidelined early on in the spring season left me feeling a bit defeated because we had some really fun goals we were working hard for. Rox was going to move up to advanced and I hoped to qualify for a 3-star; Joey was aimed at Badminton, a lifelong dream. Well, that didn’t happen! But (here comes the first of my ‘firsts’). it was the first time that I entered and was ACCEPTED at Badminton! I think that’s pretty special chapter in my book!

Well, those boys came back with a vengeance and I gained some perspective on my career. I had felt, for lack of a better word, down about not getting to Badminton, so I needed to snap out of that funk and get going on some new plans! I thought, well hey, let’s aim Rox at the Pan American Games! So off to Rebecca Farm on a plane to do another 2-star we went!” Read more on Kristin’s blog.

This is the truly the healthiest way to feed hay, which is the most important part of a horse’s diet. Not only does the Haygain Hay Steamer rid our hay of potential mold or fungus, it converts it into a wholesome forage that my horses really enjoy! Even my picky eaters (the ones that never used to finish their hay) are now finishing every last scrap!

After adding Mushroom Matrix to the daily regimen of my top event horses, I noticed a significant improvement in their physical and mental well-being. From a competition standpoint, my three upper-lever eventers have a greater focus and a calmer disposition after starting on the ECP Matrix. This has translated into a greater willingness to perform to the level they are being asked.

I have also noticed an even greater improvement in one of my advanced horses’s overall health immediately after starting on the Immune Matrix. This horse always has trouble when we make the trip south every winter and start up our early season training. He does not handle stress very well and every year it ends up turning into a health problem in some way. This year on Immune Matrix is the first time that he has been healthy, bright, and did not have to be on antibiotics for anything! He also has a beautiful shiny coat to prove it!

My Intermediate level horse has been struggling to meet the demands of moving up to the Advanced level. The extra work in our dressage training is where I needed to concentrate the most with him. I started him on the Muscle Matrix this winter, and let me tell you.…he is no longer struggling! He has stepped up and in turn is putting on the proper muscle to continually improve his flatwork, which in turn has tremendously improved his jumping! And best of all, he is so happy! He feels to have gained much confidence from achieving this level of strength in his training!

Along with being absolutely thrilled with the results these supplements have had on my horses, I would also have to say that one of my favorite parts is that they are all natural and organic products! That is the way I choose to feed myself, so it only makes sense to be using the best organic products for my athletic partners!

I personally started to take the Daily Life Essentials, Immune, and Energy Matrix supplements for humans and have noticed that I am much more energetic and just feel better throughout my days working, training, and riding. After such long hours, day after day, at the farm and competing numerous horses, I would normally be exhausted and having that ‘dragging’ feeling by day’s end. On these supplements, I feel much more alert and able to concentrate and perform better myself. Even when my body may start to feel a bit tired, I no longer feel ‘run down’. This is a huge help in my everyday work as a rider and competitor!

Kristin Schmolze Eventing and Sport Horses of Califon, NJ is partnering with Kedrah House Stud of Ireland to import quality young horses to the United States. Schmolze, who runs a training business out of Everbreeze Farm, has imported frozen semen for several years from the two stallions standing at Kedrah House: Ricardo Z and Lux Z. They hope that bringing some of the stallions’ young offspring to the United States will help promote the breeding side of the business too.

On July 16, Schmolze received two four-year-olds and one five-year-old by Ricardo Z from Ireland: ‘Ricardo’s Whistle and Pop’ is a four-year-old old purchased for her client, Beth Durden; four-year-old ‘Ricardo Time’ and five-year-old ‘Ricardo Million’ are both for sale. Schmolze plans to get these two going and competing, and ideally would like to qualify them both for the young event horse championships this year.

“They are still very green so we will see how quickly they come along,” she said. “Either way I will get them competing, and they are for sale right away.”

Schmolze’s relationship with Kedrah House started when she purchased her now two-star level event horse, 11-year-old Ballylaffin Bracken, who is also by Ricardo Z.

“I think he’s one of the nicer all-around event horses that I’ve had,” she said. “He’s solid in all three phases: he has the movement and temperament for dressage and he is brave cross-country and he is a clear, careful show jumper. I’ve been taking it slow with him because at 17.3 hands he is such a big horse but he is ready to go advanced. This year he has felt ready to put all the pieces together and show himself off. I feel that he just did that at his most recent competition, at Rebecca Farm in Montana, after which we were named to the USEF Short List for the Land Rover U.S. Eventing Team at the Pan American Games this October in Guadalajara, Mexico!”

Schmolze explained that Ricardo Z is a very popular stallion in Europe and that crossed with a Warmblood mare the result may be more of dressage show jumping type of horse and when crossed with a Thoroughbred, the result is the ideal event horse.

“These three young horses are all by Ricardo Z out of Thoroughbred mares and the result is a wonderfully athletic, classy horse,” she said. “I think that Ricardo crossed with our American Thoroughbred mares would be very beneficial to event horse breeding in the United States.”
