2012 PRO Tour Series Haygain Horse of the Year
Ballylaffin Bracken is a 17.3 hand Irish Sport Horse gelding born in 2000 in County Tipperary, Ireland. He is Irish-bred by one of the world’s leading event and show jumping sires Ricardo Z and out of the Irish Sport Horse mare Ballylaffin Florence.
Ballylaffin Bracken was imported from Ireland by Kristin in 2004. Since his arrival, he has successfully competed at international competitions throughout the United States and Canada. In his very first outing in the United States, Ballylaffin Bracken won the Preliminary Division at Seneca’s Fall Horse Trial and then placed 3rd in the Young Horse Preliminary Futurity at Plantation Field. He has completed 2 CIC**s in the top 10 placings and recently took 5th place at the mandatory Pan Am outing in Richland Park Horse Trials in Michigan. As an Alternate Team Member for the 2011 Pan-American Games, Ballylaffin Bracken trained with Captain Mark Philips in Ocala, Florida in October of 2011. He was also awarded a 2011 USEF grant to compete at Galway Downs in California where he placed 8th.
In 2012, Rox had another impressive year, placing 6th at the Bromont CCI***, 15th at the Fair Hill International CCI*** and putting together a season which included top 10 placings in 7 Advanced Horse Trials. As a result of this success Ballylaffin Bracken was named the 2012 PRO Tour Series Haygain Horse of the Year! Kristin is excited for all things to come for this talented horse in the coming years and with Rox recently finishing 25th at his first CCI4* at Rolex, 2013 the future is looking very bright.
