Kristin Schmolze

Discipline: International 4-Star Eventer

Kristin Schmolze has been fortunate to train with some of the best coaches the equestrian world has to offer. An avid rider from an early age, her coaches include long time trainer and friend, Marilyn Payne (world renowned judge who officiated the 2008 Olympic Games in Bejing), Olympic team member Stephen Bradley, Olympic silver medalist Kim Severson, and Olympic gold medalist Phillip Dutton. Through an unwavering sense of commitment and discipline to her sport, Kristin enjoyed Eventing success from an early age. In 2003, she was named the US Eventing Association’s Young Rider of the Year, a year in which she was the top-placing Young Rider at two CCI3* events, winning the Markham Trophy Championships in both the Spring and Fall. That same year Kristin won individual silver and team gold medals at the North American Young Rider Championships. In 2004, she was awarded the Lionel Guerrand-Hermes Memorial Trophy—an annual award presented to a Young Rider, age 16-21, who best exemplifies the ideals of horsemanship and sportsmanship. And at her very first 4-star outing, Kristin made a distinct impression in the eventing world by placing 7th nationally and 12th internationally at the Rolex Kentucky CCI4* in 2005. Kristin built on these early successes with a long list of impressive accomplishments thanks to her competitive mounts and new prospects imported from Kedrah House Stud in Ireland. To date, she has successfully competed at international events throughout England, Canada and the United States. She has been named to the USEF Developing Rider List a number of times and was named an alternate member of the US Eventing Team for the 2011 Pan American Games in Mexico. In 2012, Kristin rode one of her top mounts to being the PRO Advanced Horse of the Year, and followed that up with successful CCI4* results aboard her partner Ballylaffin Bracken in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Kristin is excited to continue her success this season, and is very excited about her current horses.
